School and nursery closure
Adverse Weather & Emergency School Closure
At Wrockwardine Wood Infant School & Oakengates Nursery Federation, the safety and wellbeing of our children, families and staff is always our highest priority.
In the rare event that we need to close the school due to snow, severe weather or another emergency, we aim to communicate clearly and quickly with all parents and carers.
We always make every effort to remain open. Closure will only happen if:
-
The site becomes unsafe,
-
Not enough staff can travel to maintain safe supervision,
-
Or travel conditions present significant safety risks.
How We Will Contact You
If the decision is made to close the school before the start of the school day, parents and carers will receive:
✅ A text message from the Executive Headteacher
✅ Website update
✅ Facebook update
✅ The Telford and Wrekin School Closure page will be updated: Closures - School/Nursery Closures - Telford & Wrekin Council
If the decision is made to close during the school day, parents and carers will again be notified by text message or a phone call and updates will be shared throughout the day on:
-
The school website
-
