Welcome to the Toddler Room!

We are delighted to share all the fun and learning your toddlers have been experiencing throughout the week. From creative play to building new skills, we’ll share their exciting adventures and milestones. Every day is packed with laughter, learning, and discovery as they explore the world around them.

Week Commencing 30th Sept 2024:

This week in the toddler room we have been sharing the story ‘The Colour Monster’ and talking about our feelings.

In the art studio we have been exploring the different colours linked to the story and role modelling language. “Yellow makes me feel warm and happy”.

The children have been making their own choices of which colour they would like to use and naming them. “I got yellow”.

We have also been listening to different genres of music and moving our bodies in different ways. We have talked about how the music makes us feel.

Our nursery rhyme for this week has been “if you're happy and you know it”.

Week Commencing 23 September 2024:

This week in the Toddler room we have been sharing the story ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.

At the finger gym we have been using loose parts to create bear faces inspired by the story. The children have been looking at their own faces using mirrors to know where each loose part needs to go for the eyes, nose etc. The children have enjoyed naming each facial feature “look.....eye, nose”.

In the home corner the children have been retelling the goldilocks and the three bears storyline. We have been using our problem-solving skills to ensure there are three bowls and three spoons for the three bears tea party.

Our nursery rhyme of the week has been “When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears”.

Week Commencing 16 September 2024:

This week in the Toddler room we have enjoyed learning about the moon festival. We have listened to the story and learned about moon cakes.

On the playdough table the children have then enjoyed creating their own moon cakes.

We have also been listening to Chinese music and dancing with scarves, moving our bodies in different ways.

In the art studio we have been exploring mixing colours with bright bold colours. I wonder what happens when we mix red and yellow together?

Our nursery rhyme of the week has been ‘Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed.’
